Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going.
예수께서 가라사대 아직 잠시 동안 빛이 너희 중에 있으니 빛이 있을 동안에 다녀 어두움에 붙잡히지 않게 하라 어두움에 다니는 자는 그 가는 바를 알지 못하느니라
Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light." When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.
너희에게 아직 빛이 있을 동안에 빛을 믿으라 그리하면 빛의 아들이 되리라 예수께서 이 말씀을 하시고 저희를 떠나가서 숨으시니라

[ 풀이 ]

35. Then Jesus told them. 예수께서 그들에게 대답하셨다.
=Jesus replied.=Jesus therefore said [to them]=Jesus answered [the crowd].
*You are going to have the light just a little while [longer].
빛이 너희와 같이 있는 것도 잠시 뿐이다[아직 얼마 동안은 빛이 너희 가운데 있을 것이다].
=The light will [still] be among (or with) you for a little [time] longer.
=Yet my light shines among you (or my light will shine out for you, you [will] have the light) [for] a little time (or a little while, for a short time longer, [for] only a little longer, for a brief time).
*Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you.
빛이 있는 동안에 다녀라. 그리하면 어둠이 너희를 덮치지[이기지] 못할 것이다.
=Walk while you have the light (or Keep on living by it, Be walking about as
long as you have the light, Continue on your way while you have the light, Walk by the light you have), lest darkness come upon (or overcome, catch,
overpower, defeat, destroy) you.
=Finish your journey while you still have the light (or Be faithful to the light that you have), for fear darkness should lay hold on you.
=Walk in it while you can, and go where you want to go (or so you will not
stumble) when the darkness falls,
=Go on your way (or Travel on, Go on walking in it) while you have the light so that you will not need to walk in the dark (or you will not be in the dark, you will not be caught walking blindly in the dark).
*The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going.
어둠 속을 다니는 사람은 자기가 어디로 가고 있는지를 모른다.
=If (or When) you walk in the darkness, you cannot see where you are going.
=The one (or The person) walking about in [the] darkness has no knowledge
of where (or whither) he is drifting.

③(조류*기류 등에 밀리는 대로) 표류하다{=be all adrift=be on the drift
=be cast away=go (or get) adrift=drive with the weather}
=For then it will be too late for you to find your way.
=For he who journeys in darkness has no idea where he is going.
=Whoever walks in the dark cannot tell which way he is going.

36. Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light. 너희에게 아직 빛이 있을 동안에 빛을 믿고 빛의 자녀가 되어라.
=As (or As long as) you have the light, believe in the light. Then the light will be within you, and shining through your lives. You will be children of light.
=Have faith in the light while it is with you (or Those of you who have the
light, trust in the light, Make use of the light while there is still time), and
you will be light bearers (or men of light, enlightened people).

(=well-informed), 계발[계몽]된(=illuminated=educated=civilized=edified=humanized

② 정통하고 있는([up]on){=conversant with (or in)=knowledgable about
=familiar (or acquainted) with=informed about (or of, on, as to)
=well-informed in (or on)=learned in=intelligent of(古)
=versed (or instructed, accomplished, experienced, expert, practiced, proficient,
skilled) in}, 현명한{=wise=intelligent=sagacious(文)=prudent=sensible=discreet
=rational=reasonable(古)=insightful=discerning=judicious=advisable=well-advised},
사리를 잘 아는(=sensible=reasonable=accessible to reason)
=In so far as (or In the degree that) you have the light, believe in (or put your faith in, faithfully trust in) the light, in order that you may be the children of light (or so that you will be the people of the light, so that you will become people whose lives show the light, so that you may be a people who have the light in you).
*When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid [himself] from them.
이 말씀을 마치시고 예수님께서는 그들을 떠나서 (그들의 눈을 피하여) 몸을 숨기셨다.
=When Jesus had said this, he left them. They did not know where he was.
=Jesus said these things, and going off (or departing) concealed himself from
them (or was lost to their view).
*be lost to～ ① 놓쳐버리다, ～에게 가능성이 없다, ～에서 빠져나가다
The opportunity was lost to him. 그 기회는 그에게 다시 오지 않았다.
The island was lost to sight. 그 섬은 보이지 않게 되었다.
② 이미 ～의 것이 아니다, ～에게 주어지지 않고 있다
Joy was lost to me. 내게 이미 즐거움이란 없었다.
③ ～의 영향을 받지 않다, ～에 대하여 무감각하다(=be insensible to)
The joke was lost to her. 그 농담이 그녀에게는 통하지 않았다.
He is lost to all sense of decency[shame, pity].
그에게는 고상하다는 느낌은[수치심이라곤, 인정머리가] 전혀 없다
=After Jesus said this (or After saying these things, With these words), he
was concealed as he left (or Jesus went away and was hidden from them, Jesus
went away and for a time was not seen again by them, he went from them in
secret, he left and went into hiding).
