1장 The Word Became Flesh
육신이 되신 말씀

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 태초에 말씀이 계시니라 이 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니 이 말씀은 곧 하나님이시니라(사 9:6)
He was with God in the beginning. 그가 태초에 하나님과 함께 계셨고
Through him all things were made, without him nothing was made that has been made. 만물이 그로 말미암아 지은 바 되었으니 지은 것이 하나도 그가 없이는 된 것이 없느니라
In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 그 안에 생명이 있었으니 이 생명은 사람들의 빛이라
The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it 빛이 어두움에 비취되 어두움이 깨닫지 못하더라

In the beginning 태초에(=In principio(L)=Before anything else existed

복음(=Gospel), (하나님의 말씀으로서의) 성서(=the Bible),
로고스( ogo ): 신의 현현(顯現), 즉 예수 그리스도

In the beginning was the Word. 태초에 말씀이 계시니라
문두에 장소, 방향의 부사나 부사구가 오면⇒(대명사주어+자동사/ 자동사+일반명사주어) 순서로 온다.
Here's the problem. 이것 (이제부터 말하는 것)이 문제입니다.

Out rushed the man and his wife. ←The man and his wife rushed out.
Out they rushed. ←They rushed out. 그들이 갑자기 나타났다.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 태초에 말씀이 계셨다. 그 말씀은 하나님과 함께 계셨다. 그 말씀은 하나님이셨다.
=When all things began, the Word already was. The Word dwelt with God, and the Word was God.
*dwell with∼ 함께 거하다(=live (or cohabit, abide, reside, stay, visit) with)
He was with God in the beginning. 그가 태초(太初)에 하나님과 함께 계셨다.
=He was in the beginning with God.=He was present originally with God.
=This is the One who was in the beginning with God.

=With no him not one thing came into being that has been in being.

In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
그 분 안에 생명이 있었으니 그 생명은 사람들의 빛이었다.

=Everything that was created received its life from him, and his life gave light to everyone.
=All that came to be was alive with his life, and that was the light of men.

외교관들은 그 결정에 관해서 깜깜 무소식이었다.

어디서부터 시작해야 할지 갈피를 못 잡겠다.
2) 비밀히, 남에게 알려지지 않고
keep (or leave)∼in the dark 비밀로 (애매하게) 해두다(=keep∼dark)
